St. Augustine trolley tours — compare all five

All tours
In short: I drove the loop for six years as a conductor. The main event is the hop-on hop-off trolley at $40—22 stops, ~90-minute live narration, trolleys every 15–20 minutes, St. Augustine History Museum entry included. For late-night ghost stories, the Ghosts and Gravestones tour runs $36, 80 minutes with hard wooden seats and the Old Jail after dark. Best value if you’d visit museums anyway is the trolley and 3-museum combo at $69. Nights of Lights — the seasonal December loop through holiday lights — runs $81 for a private row (1–4 people). For small groups preferring a guided hour, the golf cart tour is $32, waterfront and downtown, highest-rated at 4.9 stars. All five bookable below with live availability.

The best St. Augustine tour: the hop-on trolley

If you take one trolley tour, make it the $40 hop-on hop-off. Twenty-two stops on a ~7-mile loop, trolleys every 15–20 minutes from 9:00 a.m., and you board at any stop (the Welcome Center at 167 San Marco Ave is the main hub, with free parking). The conductor narrates 100+ points of interest on a ~90-minute full loop. Includes St. Augustine History Museum entry. Rated 4.6 stars from over 1,100 reviews. Most visitors ride the full loop once, hop off at their picks (Castillo de San Marcos, St. George Street, Flagler College), and re-board all day. On a budget or short on time, see the golf cart option below for a guided alternative.

Which St. Augustine tour is right for you

Best all-around, 22 stops: The $40 hop-on trolley. Live narration, museum entry, trolleys every 15–20 min, re-board all day. Works for families, independent travelers, anyone wanting flexibility. Rated 4.6 stars.

Night stories, Old Jail included: The $36 Ghosts and Gravestones. Eighty minutes, ghost-host storyteller, costumed evening tour, exclusive night entry to Potter’s Wax Museum and the Old Jail. Seats are hard wooden benches. Rated 4.4 stars. Not for very young children.

Best value for museum lovers: The $69 trolley and 3-museum combo. Includes the hop-on trolley plus admission to the Old Jail, Oldest Store Museum Experience, and History Museum. Saves money if you’d visit even two attractions anyway.

Holiday season, private row: The Nights of Lights trolley, roughly mid-November through January, $81 for a private row seating 1–4 people (so up to four ride for $81 total—it’s cheaper per person in a group). Forty minutes through downtown holiday displays. Sells out days ahead near Christmas. Rated 4.2 stars.

Small-group guided experience: The golf cart tour, $32, one-hour waterfront and downtown loop with a certified guide. Electric vehicles, small groups, complimentary photos. Highest rating in the lineup at 4.9 stars. One continuous guided hour, not hop-on-hop-off.

Insider tip

Book the $40 hop-on trolley in advance if you can—trolleys fill up at peak stops (Castillo, St. George Street) in season. The Welcome Center at 167 San Marco Ave has free parking for ticket holders, so park once and ride the loop. The free Beach Bus for ticket holders reaches the lighthouse and St. Augustine Beach, not included on the main loop. December Nights of Lights tours sell out; book a day or two ahead.
